The McDonalds Refresh & Fast Food Chains
By Matt Davies on January 16th, 2007.
Ok, before we start I just want to say that this is a purely design and brand related article. I do not want to get into a debate about the terrible deeds that fast food chains have undertaken and how bad, in particular McDonalds is.
Great, now that that’s out of …
Making Websites Beta
By Andrew Faulkner on January 11th, 2007.
OK. It’s only January and the award for ‘worst pun in title’ has a clear winner.

By Johan on December 25th, 2006.
Steve Krug is a usability expert. Basically he is hired to evaluate websites and see what possible can be improved on usability issues. Web designers normally do not have a budget for usability reports. Therefore we need to do that part in the design process ourselves. Luckily, Mr. Krug just …
The Many Blessings of Fadtastic
By Phil Renaud on December 23rd, 2006.
Just fifteen short months ago, I wrote my first article here at fadtastic. I’d been blogging for a short time on my own, but for the most part avoiding design topics. After all, I wasn’t a professional designer - I weekended it, in my spare time, for friends-of-friends and the like. I was making more money as a mobile Disc Jockey and trying to scrap together cash for a semester of, not design school, but rather Philosophy. I figured blogging on the topic wouldn’t be my forte, but would certainly be something I could learn to enjoy. And why not? Exposure’s always nice, right?
And then, something clicked. I put down the Sartre and Hegel and picked up Zeldman and Cederholm. I got responses to my articles, email concerning my availability to freelance, and my blog readership shot up. All very nice perks, but never did I expect that one of my articles would lead to a textbook contribution deal, and another to magazine publication …

From Counterculture to cyberculture: Stewart Brand, the Whole Earth Network, and the Rise of Digital Utopianism
By Johan on December 14th, 2006.
How we evolved to the Internet as we know it today — we all know bits and parts of it. Some think that Tim Berners-Lee from WWW started the Internet, others say ARPANET, the military communication network during the Cold War made the Internet happen. In fact, there is a …
