I noticed that text scaling was not factored in. For example if I have bad vision and try to bump the font size up, some things start to fall apart a bit. Not a big problem but something to think about.

Jared, good point. I was going to go down the accessibility angle but as it was not a service that they advertised I thought I'd not include it.

It is of course important. The examples above do have some irks but they aren't that bad in my view. At least not in Firefox. To get the text scaling to work, it may be required to educate the designer who submits their image about text resizing - to allow a web page that is flexible. But then the designer will likely need to understand XHTML and CSS. A catch 22 situation.

Another positive efect of these services is that they do enable the designer to increase their workload. If my xhtml/css work is being handled elseware, I can focus on designing another project sooner, and in theory make money sooner. (Although we all know getting paid has it's quirks now and then)

Hey, the designer of the Sales Manage Blog here. We were not happy at all with the services. The first version we got was ALL tables. Terrible. So we finally got the version you see and all the fonts were jacked up (and I even included the fonts with my Illustrator files). So the logo is spaced all weird and such. Plus they didn't use the same typography I used. Long story short, I spent quite a bit of time fixing everything. Yes it did save me some initial setup time, but I will be looking elsewhere for these services. If you want to see how it SHOULD look go here: <a href="http://salesmanage.com/blog/>http://salesmanage.com/blog/ . Sites not live yet, but this page is. Maybe I'm too picky, but by the copy on their website they claimed they would show great attention to detail and I just didn't find that to be the case.

Jonathan, thanks for the heads up. Looks like I was wrong to assume that the client (you in this case) had requested these changes between handing the design in and receiving the coded version.

Thanks for coming forward.

We used XHTMLized on our inital design last year, back when they had cheaper prices. If you look through their portfolio you will be very impressed.

Very great review! I remember looking back on some points that I forgot sometimes whenever I design. Now I won't have to search for articles regarding these issues.. Thanks a lot!
