[...] A little odd to be on this side of the ball, but our buddies at Fadtastic recently conducted and interview with me. We discuss a lot of different things, including the reason behind the creation of Devlounge, tips for young designers, the issue of age vs surving on the web, a few other topics. It was fun getting a chance to answer questions rather than type out my own this time around. The only downside was Andrew Faulkner (Fadtastic Admin) was recently interview for FT as well, so we couldn’t get a 1 for 1 admin interview switch. Anyways, enough talk, feel free to head over to Fadtastic to give the interview a read. [...]

I liked the competition question. To be honest, I read both Devlounge and Fadtastic. I still read A List Apart. I read many design / developer blogs. I don't consider any of them competition. If anything, the blogs compliment each other.

Now if Devlounge started writing book reviews, I would consider that to be somewhat of a "competitive" move. ;)

Good point Ronalfy. I think you are right - blogs do compliment each other...

OMG, I had no idea Andrew was so young! When I read the first paragraph I thought it was a joke...until I read on. Wow. It's quite remarkable what he's accomplished at 16, it can only mean great things are ahead for him. This makes me feel sooo old!
I would say to Andrew... as someone who is a few years older than you (ok 10) and didn't go to college for long because I sort of jumped into a career, I think you have a great amount of insight into the right reasons to go to college and I encourage you to attend if you have the option. If you've managed to do what you've done so far while going through high school, certainly college is not going to slow you down!

A great insight into yourself and the DevLounge community. All the best for DL in the future.

A couple of quick questions, Andrew. Where did your passion come from? And how do you think you will you use it to shape DevLounge and astereostudio in the future?

@Andy - My passion came from the love of sketching things out. Back when I was younger, I always used to draw things, and I seemed to think I had a good idea of how to lay things out practically. Then one day I downloaded a demo of a graphics program and began fooling arojnd. It took quite some time before I actually ruened play into success, but once I did, I was into it.

In terms of shaping Devlounge, as I continue to sharpen my skills I'll continue to make updates to Devlounge and layout changes as I see fit.
