Disclosure: This is a paid review. Saying that, all our reviews are honest. It wouldn’t be fair otherwise.

urbanfonts.com presents the user with the ability to download free fonts from a selection of over 8,000 fonts.

So what? Free font sites are ten-a-penny nowadays. How is this different?

Well, fortunately, urbanfonts.com offers great fonts as well as presenting the user with a ’social’ feeling.

So what benefits do the social aspects of the site offer to the user?

The blog ensures that visitors are made aware of new fonts. Tips are offered to beginners in the blog whilst the articles section provides advanced typography enthusiasts the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of font usage. For those with an inquisitive mind, the forum allows one to find solutions to those typographic niggles that occur in the design world.

On the whole, Urban Fonts not only provides many fonts available through a general search, tagging and categories; it also provides information on how to actually get the best out of its fonts. For me, it has a high level of comebackability. Stay a while, no matter your skill level, and you’ll find golden nuggets of information.

Negatives? Not a lot to say here. Being pernickety, I could say that the site doesn’t look ‘urban’ but I can’t complain as the content is nicely laid out.

Good job, and a worthy font resource. Definitely a top site within its genre.

The site didn’t give me a ‘typographic’ feel, looks way to much like a myspace sub page.

Tor,

That is my only criticism of the site. I still think it remains very usable and informative.
